Pilates is known as a Mind-Body exercise system that focuses on core strength and stability. It is also a sensible exercise program that will meet you where you are, and safely take you to the next fitness level. You will look and feel your very best.

Pilates teaches body awareness, good posture and easy, graceful movement. It also improves flexibility, agility and efficiency of motion. No matter what your age or condition, it will work for you.

An innovative system of mind-body exercise, developed over the past 100 years, Pilates uses a floor mat or a variety of equipment. The method originated in the work of Joseph Pilates, and the exercises build strength and flexibility resulting in better joint mobility.

Mind-body exercise, like Pilates, is activity that keys on the mental focus of the breath and physical movement. With this type of exercise, quality of movement is stressed over quantity of movement. You’ll usually see instructors using a lot of verbal “cues” and coaching on the rhythm of breathing (the inhalation and exhalation) during the exercise, proper body alignment, recruiting the appropriate muscles for efficient movement.
